The Arrival of Windows 10:
What You Need to Know
Windows 10 will be released on July 29, 2015
This is welcome news to Microsoft operating system customers. After mixed reviews on Windows 8, Microsoft is seeking redemption through this upgrade and hopes to finally get most Windows machines on the same operating system to provide a standardized Windows platform and to support the "universal apps" offered by the Windows Store.
Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for computers currently running on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, as long as users upgrade during the first year. Microsoft introduced the "Get Windows 10" application that prompts users to reserve a copy of the soon-to-be released operating system.
The biggest change with Windows 10 is the new Start menu, which completely replaces the Windows 8-style Start screen. There will also be a new tablet mode designed to make operation easier on devices that lack a keyboard and mouse. Other changes include replacing Internet Explorer with Microsoft Edge, a business-friendly Windows store and new developer tools that may narrow Microsoft's "app gap".

Note: As with any new release and/or update, all devices may not qualify and there could be unexpected technical issues that arise.
One of the standout features found in Windows 10 is the addition of Cortana, a voice-activated personal assistant. Think of it as Siri, but for Windows.
Cortana can be used to search the internet, find files, send email, set reminders and perform tasks. When users would like the assistance, they simply say, "Hey Cortana" followed by the command.
Digital personal assistants seem to have increasing levels of "personality" and Cortana showed hers in a recent Q & A with PC World Magazine. That interview can be found here.
